• Question: Have you ever seen a UFO?

      Yes, in the sense that a UFO is something that’s flying around and I at the time could not figure out what the object was. At least on one occasion I am pretty sure I saw a ball lightning doing some pretty unusual aerial acrobatics in the distance. But I have not seen the kind of a UFO that would lead me to believe that it was of extraterrestrial origin 🙂

      It would be incredibly exciting if I did though. Imagine if they landed… Would they be here for peace, curiosity/ tourism and trade, or would they be here to enslave us for labour, or eliminate us, or use us as food or acquire the planet for it’s resources?

    I suspect that our first interaction with advanced alien species would have a very one-sided and accidental flavor to it, in the same way that a colony of termites might interact with a truck passing them by. From the termites’ point of view the event is incomprehensible, and from the truck drivers’ point of view the event is trivial and below notice. In order to have meaningful interaction there has to be at least a scale-wise alignment of capabilities and interests between the two sides. Which means that civilizations that have the best chance of interacting with us in a meaningful way are also likely to be trapped inside their restricted sphere of space travel (it’s not even a single star system for us yet) and their chances of interacting with us are very low. A curious situation may emerge where a lower-level civilization is ‘carried along’ by the higher-level one (like barnacles on the whale, who is entirely oblivious of their presence) – which would then allow the lower-level aliens to reach us, assuming that the more advanced civilization happens to pass by our corner of the Galaxy.

    yes, UFO means unidentified flying object and i onece saw something in the sky and i dindnt know what it was. 5 minets later my friend hit me in the face with an RC helicopter. mystery solved 😉
