      There is no evidence that mermaids exist. I do not believe that they exist.

      If there is one, it would be nice to see it. Notably, quite a few legendary mermaid types are nasty, vicious creatures that delight in sadistic killing of sailors. So perhaps I would amend the above to ‘it would be nice to see one from a safe distance, equipped with adequate deterrents’.
