I love my work AND I hate getting up early in the morning 🙂 My son has to go to school and I often have morning meetings so I have to wake up pretty early anyway. Some people are naturally better at waking up early whereas others feel better if they wake up late. There are arguments out there as to why – including one argument that the late-risers (‘owls’) are the evolutionary product of human populations needing a group of people to stay up late into the night to guard against nocturnal threats.

Unfortunately human society for the most part favors the early-risers, which makes lives of late-night working folks like paramedics, police, night-shift workers, etc. rather difficult (try to get a good meal from a restaurant at 3 AM, it’s not easy!). Being at work early is culturally associated with enthusiasm, dedication, and so on – at least in the Western culture – even though people who come to work at e.g. 10AM and work until evening are no less productive than people who arrive at 5AM and leave in the afternoon.
