To stop being frightened is a hard one, but I love horror movies because they do scare me! It’s the reason I watch them, I like the terror, the thrills and chills and the adrenalin rush. I guess it depends how you interpret horror movies.
I cannot really get into your particular situation, but I can say what works for me: scary movies (especially those about aliens, zombies, ghosts and so on) are nice because the stuff that they depict is *patently impossibleMATOMO_URL There is zero chance of getting eaten by a zombie or being impregnated with an alien egg inside your chest. On the other hand, movies about serial killers, sadistic murderers and so on tend to bore/upset me since there are already cases like that out there and most movies do not even come close to the horrors that people have inflicted or are inflicting on other people. This is sort of like watching a documentary, but with a made-up (mostly badly) plot.
In general, someone who bullies others because they do not conform to his or her interests can be considered a massive jerk and the easiest way to get out of this situation is to stop hanging out with that person.
Being a big fan of horror films, people automatically think I’m not scared of them at all. However, they terrify me and that’s exactly the reason I like them. Horror films are made so as to scare people; if you’re not scared by them, chances are it isn’t very good anway!
