Repetitive stuff at work, having to do the same technique over and over again….that and seeing England play at football sometimes – that first half against Ukraine was awful

I agree with John. Some things in the lab can be quite boring and repetitive but are necessary to do the exciting bits so there is no escaping them 🙂 Outside the lab I would say hoovering! I hate it! So much so that I made a deal with my boyfriend that if I do the cooking he will do the hoovering 🙂

As others pointed out, repetitive tasks are boring (unless it’s repetitive candy eating). That is why we have robots who do a lot of the boring stuff for us. My lab has six robots that help us do crystallization experiments – when I was a postdoc I used to set up thousands of drops (crystals of proteins grow in tiny drops) by myself. That was a truly soul shattering experience…
