• Question: what do you think the results will be from the nuclear waste experiment, where they release nuclear waste into the atmosphere? Will it be safe?

      Well, currently the Government are planning to build a repository (an underground cave, so to speak) where they can store the waste for a very long time. In this time, the radiation will be blocked by the ground around it and will eventually decay to a safe wasteform…. In fact a lot of the nuclear waste is a lot safer than waste in other industries. Typically, nuclear waste is “frozen” in glass and stored in huge stainless steel drums, which act as radiation barriers (this is known as vitrification).

      So, to answer your question fully, we’ll be alright!
